Privacy Policy
How we handle personal information, in plain English.
Wickham Advisory (ABN 59 966 884 389) respects the privacy of the people we deal with. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we hold it and how you can access or correct it. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
- Website enquiries: the name, organisation, email, phone and message you enter in the contact form.
- Where you came from: if you arrived through one of our links (for example a LinkedIn post) or from a search engine or AI assistant, the name of that link or site and the page you first landed on. This is kept in your own browser for 30 days and sent to us only if you send the contact form.
- Client work: names, roles and contact details of client representatives, referrers and suppliers, and information in the documents clients supply for an engagement, which may incidentally include personal information about other people (for example lot owners named in body corporate records).
- Client pages: files and messages you send through a private client page we give you.
2. How we collect it
Directly from you: in meetings and calls, by email, through the website form and client pages, and in documents you supply. We do not buy personal information.
3. Why we use it
To respond to enquiries; to scope, deliver and invoice our services; to communicate with you about an engagement; to understand which of our marketing is useful; to meet legal, tax and insurance obligations; and, with your consent, to tell you about services relevant to you. You can ask us to stop at any time. We do not sell personal information.
4. Cookies and analytics
This website uses no cookies and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability. If we later add search engine tools such as Google Search Console, they report on searches and clicks in aggregate, not on individuals.
5. Service providers, AI tools and overseas storage
We use trusted providers to run the business: cloud hosting and database services, email, and AI services that help us read and organise documents and draft working papers. Information is disclosed to them only as needed to provide their service, under business terms that require them to protect it; we use AI providers whose business terms do not allow client content to be used to train their models. Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We may also disclose information to professional advisers and insurers where required, and where the law requires it.
6. Automated decisions
We do not make decisions that significantly affect individuals solely by computer program. Software and AI tools help with our analysis; people make the decisions, and every deliverable is reviewed and signed off by the principal.
7. How we protect and keep it
Access is restricted to the people working on the engagement and protected by authentication and encryption in transit. Working papers are kept for seven years and then securely destroyed. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are kept for up to two years and then deleted.
8. Access and correction
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you by contacting rmcdonough@wickhamadvisory.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
